It is not the right angle that attracts me, nor the straight line, hard and inflexible, created by man. What attracts me is the free and sensual curve - the curve that I find in the mountains of my country, in the sinuous course of its rivers, in the body of the beloved woman." Oscar Niemeyer.
This project is a project we dreamt of but without the confidence of it becoming a reality. According to the regulations, 75% of the façade had to be aligned with the property and left us only 25% to play with. The first idea was to join the two aligned facades with a curve. The large park on the southern side of the plot gave us an advantage of huge terraces and unparalleled views. The corner curve moves towards the terraces and railing with a slight inclination for an organic finish. It resonates in every detail, from gardening to the partition wall design.
This compositional vector gives the project coastal buildings overlooking the sea and the project grew under the influence of this focal point. With this criterion, a Krion façade of heterogeneous texture is designed breaking the typical paradigm of horizontal bands. An optimized interior layout was integrated by incorporating almost all the curves within the terraces.
The team was exceptional and took it personally to materialize a Madrid's new icon. It is one of the first projects in Madrid with European energy rating A.
During this process, we learned that if you have an idea, protect it, embrace it and with a team that makes it theirs, it becomes reality and you realize that all the steps taken were necessary, creating a great puzzle and you being a small piece. At this moment, you remember why you are an architect.
