The villa development is strategically positioned on Nosy Taolankena, oriented toward mainland Nosy Be to capture the morning sunrise rather than conventional sunset exposures. This unique positioning provides commanding views of Mont Passot while overlooking the pristine mangrove forest and bay below. The challenging topography of the sloped terrain has been leveraged as a defining characteristic of the project’s architectural response.
The design incorporates feng shui principles as requested by the client, optimizing spatial arrangements and orientations to enhance energy flow throughout the residential spaces.
The architectural concept maximizes the site’s natural potential by embedding the villa structures into the existing slope contours. A continuous floating thatched roof system follows the natural gradient of the terrain, ensuring the development maintains a discreet profile that integrates harmoniously with the landscape.
The design philosophy embraces authentic Malagasy architectural traditions through carefully selected materials and finishes. Hand-carved wooden sculptural doors complement warm ochre wall treatments, while locally sourced stone tile flooring reinforces the connection to regional craft traditions and materials.
A patio serves as the backdrop for the main living areas, strengthening the seamless indoor-outdoor spatial relationship that defines tropical architecture. This configuration optimizes natural cross-ventilation, maximizes daylight penetration throughout interior spaces, and maintains unobstructed visual connections to the surrounding landscape while preserving privacy and thermal comfort.
