In Teresformasi, 6IX Design Office reimagines a modest 1980s terrace house on the eastern edge of Kuala Lumpur into a contemporary home that reflects the rhythm of modern Malaysian family life. The project name, a fusion of teres (terrace) and transformasi (transformation), captures both its architectural heritage and its renewed ambition.
At the heart of the home is a generous central void that brings daylight and natural ventilation into every corner while creating a graceful flow between spaces. Communal areas open seamlessly for gatherings and daily rituals, while private quarters remain calm and intimate. A refined palette of brick, timber and concrete honours the original structure while introducing warmth and tactility.
The result is a home that feels grounded yet elevated, modern yet familiar, adaptable yet enduring. More than a renovation, Teresformasi is a statement on how design can breathe new life into the ordinary, renewing not only a house but the way it is experienced.
