"Brilliance emitted by jet-black materials "
This is a plan for a counter-style teppanyaki restaurant. The store was originally given the name “Himawari” (sunflower in Japanese) by its owner. Using this name, we created an image of the store.
The planned location was positioned alongside other flashy stores on a bustling city street lit up by various types of neon lights. We thought that we would utilize the vividness of the streets to propose a design that incorporated a superficial illumination using various lights and colors.
When you think of sunflowers, you probably have an image of many large yellow flower blooming under a blue sky, but what we had in mind was “a single sunflower beautifully blooming under a moonlit night,” which was suitable with the streets of the area during the night.
Iron, wood, glass, stone. Constructing a space using all jet-black materials, we aimed to draw out the potential of each of the materials, such as the texture and the warm or cool images that each of the materials could bring to the space and harmonize them to create a glamorous space.
While the space distinguishes itself from the glamorous side made up of colors and decorative illumination, the high quality ingredients are perfectly prepared on top of the iron plate.
It’s a world that combines the powerful textures of the materials and delicate shades.
The glowing flames and sounds and scents emitted from the iron plate.
Surrounded by the jet-black space, we believe that we have created a restaurant where visitors can spend time and enjoy thinking about various memories.
