Our client, one of the largest cement manufacturers and exporters from UAE, approached us with a project for erecting a 55 meter high support structure, for a heavy boiler. This was followed with requirement of creating shop drawings for the structure in Tekla, in coordination with their in house design teams.
Challenges
The client provided a Staad pro model of the boiler supporting structure as input. This model had to be imported into Tekla for further development
The design team at client’s end was working on the same structure simultaneously; hence, a lot of revisions were received and resolved during the course of the project.
Models developed in Stadd were center line models, and all the member locations had to be changed in as per the actual drafts.
Steel connections were too heavy for TEKLA modeling

Incorporated Staad model provided by client’s design firm, we changed each member’s location.
Developed very heavy beam-beam, beam-column, and bracing connections to take care of a lump mass at the top of the 55 meter high boiler structure.
