This exclusive residence was designed for a family of four with a clear brief of a contemporary residence with a minimalistic color palette of White Grey and Black. The spaces are designed around a courtyard, which serves as a visually binding element, a focal point for rest of the spaces around it. The socially active lifestyle of the client was catered to by a spacious living room, connected to outdoor space at the back through a calming passage ornated with the sound of water and a buddha sculpture. The outdoor green space is connected to the inner courtyard via a series of suspended sleek metal staircase enclosed by glass on 2 sides, thus uniting the experience of serenity from inside out. Divided by axis of staircase, courtyard and foyer, semi-private spaces are located of the other side of the courtyard, while the private bedrooms are placed on the upper floor accessed by a passage overlooking the courtyard. The widely neutral color palette acts as a background to greens, the colorful tapestry, the furniture in wood and artworks.
The building massing of the residence is achieved through a sculpture like addition of cuboids in a proportionate manner, which resonate with the internal planning of the spaces and were guided by climatic conditions of the site. The residence is enclosed within a plethora of greens to further advance the sense of serene within the house.
We would like to thank Amisha Shah & Rakesh Shah for the wonderful opportunity. The project is designed in collaboration with Ami Interiors.
