The U-shape of this two-storey residence is owed to the owners’ strong will to preserve an old beautiful tree standing on the site. So they decided to plan a building around it and create an open patio with the tree being the centre of the house. Besides its uncommon shape this home is characterised by a stunning exterior architecture. The entrance is marked by an exposed concrete frame, in which a door made of Corten steel has been installed. This deliberately created contrast of different materials is reinforced by playing with colours, such as the rust-coloured brick, the white frames and the green of the surrounding garden. The rustic ceramic facing resembles the traditional adobe houses, while the huge glass windows establish a connection between the interior and nature.
