Concept
Tangen Centre has the potential to become a unique place as a creative centre for Nesodden. The demography; the knowledge, skills and dedication of the population, make the place unique.
The project stretches the centre south from the main road and forms a new centre of gravity between the hamlets Granholt, Flaskebekk and Skoklefall. Connected via small roads and new paths, the project encourages both bicycle travel and walking, through either built up areas or the forest.
Primary and secondary schools become driving forces in the development of the centre. Education breaks out of its localities and through shared use becomes an integral part of the local community, in a closer integration between education, nature and the local society. Thus, Tangen Centre can be thought of as a truly unique place, as a centre bound together by levels of socialisation; where learning and business, production and recreation, culture and nature merge.
The buildings are arranged towards a new Common, a continuous string of outdoor areas and buildings. Breaking down today’s larger scale, the Common forms a series of comfortable spaces, adapted to a variety of activities, for young and for old, both inside and outside.
Existing vegetation belts are continued into the centre between the buildings forming a transition to the new and unifying pollinating Common, from the Skoklefall Forest in the south up to the Water Tower, or through the Shopping Centre in the north.
