The project of “Tamo restaurant” consists in the refurbishment of 1600s building, in the historical center of a small town in the hill of central Italy.
The main theme of the project is the dialogue between the ancient envelope and the contemporary intervention, between the concreteness of the existing and the abstract nature of the project.
This dialogue begins in the entrance, marked by two large arches that allows continuity with the outside, thanks to the light window frames and fixed glass panels. In this bright space a portal in dark stained ash invites to the main room, preluding to an intense change of atmosphere: this passage infact is an extension of the dining room, caracterised by the contrast between the white barrel vault and the dark floor and boiserie.
In this space flows a huge table, made of two planks of solid iroko wood of 730cm x 55cm;
The kitchen, conceived as a steel and glass box, opens to the dining room through sliding panels, creating an interesting relationship between chefs and guests sitting around the table.
