McAuliffe & Company, Inc. undertook a studious re-languaging of this residence in Rancho Mirage, California. Originally developed in 1980, the commission was to breathe fresh life into a dated property. Thoughtful application of a restrained palette of material, color, form and texture resulted in a refined, more timeless expression.Re-fashioned openings better frame and expand views, enlivening the home with balanced desert light. Living spaces extend outdoors with elevated, ipe-surfaced decks. Expressed steel-framed canopies play off of the concealed steel structure of the home. Revisited finishes and furnishing compliment the architecture and feature the owner's art collection.
