Henley Halebrown Rorrison’s commercial schemes are
derived from empirical research and innovation, and are founded on a
deep understanding of the developer, corporate tenant and individual
employee requirements necessary to provide successful working
environments.
In 2007 The British Council for Offices
publication featured 13 UK office buildings, one of which was TalkBack
TV Productions. In 2004 the same project was judged ‘Best In Europe –
Office’, one of the five best new office buildings in Europe, by an
international panel of judges convened by the German architectural
journal AIT. Prior to that, in 2002, the building won an RIBA Award for
Architecture. The 6-storey scheme is organised around a garden creating a
uniquely tranquil working environment.
In the 1990s we built our reputation on developing innovative
solutions for the changing workplace. Ideas we have been able to apply
to health and education projects. Michealides & Bednash was one of
just 20 exemplars worldwide in Frank Duffy’s book the New Office. This
led subsequently to commissions from Ogilvy and Mather and Unilever. In
2006 we were commissioned to convert the 30,000sqm Lootch factory
complex in Moscow into office space for Russian developers Horus
Capital; the scheme includes two new 2,500sqm office buildings and an
entertainments pavilion. In 2007 Horus appointed the practice to design a
19-storey/ 50,000sqm commercial office tower, again in Moscow. In 2008
we were invited by Argent Properties to develop designs in competition
for a 15,000m2 office building in Kings Cross in London.
The practice’s work in the commercial sector is
internationally recognised and we have won numerous awards including an
RIBA Award for Architecture, a MIPIM Future Projects Award ‘Offices’
category, a Design Council Award, Design Week ‘Workplace Environments’
Awards and a D&AD Silver Award for the Most Outstanding Design for
the Workplace.
