To commemorate the centennial anniversary of the founding of Taiwan, R.O.C. and celebrate the merger between Taichung County and Taichung City, the Taichung City government will erect “Taiwan Tower” as an important landmark in the new special municipality. Taiwan Tower should be planned and designed with the environmental characteristics of Taichung in mind and by incorporating traditional building materials. A. Height: Approximately 300 meters above ground level, surpassing the Dadu Mountain vantage point and affording a view of the Taiwan Strait. After the construction is completed, it will become the highest building in Central Taiwan. B. Site Area: Site Area: Approximately 4.4 hectare. (Including: Taiwan Tower, The Museum of Taichung City Development, Offices for the Department of Urban Development, Taichung City Government) The footprint of the buildings shall not exceed 1 hectare in principle. C. Main Functions: Observatory, restaurant, environmental quality monitoring station, radio and digital signal transmission base, etc.
