The building for TAAV Arquitectos is the result of an adaptive reuse approach on a former warehouse in abandonment.
The first action was to remove the surface finishes of the existing building. Some old brick walls were discovered in that process, it was decided to expose them in it's original state. The original height of the building was increased in order to include a mezzanine and comply with the requirements of the program. A former industrial structure was adapted to accommodate various spaces.
Under the mezzanine some concrete walls generate spaces such as the services area, the reception and a meeting room. The remaining space in the ground floor is a gallery that contains the principal work area: it is a spacious and liberating place that is bathed in light from the windows and a skylight.
The facade of the building includes tile based finishes in a modulation designed to maintain proper proportion with the building height and the openings: this design gives character to the whole conjunct. An art intervention on the west facade created by a local artist crowns the design.
