Ta’ Ċikku Garden Proposal
The project endeavors to serve as a territorial pilot project, able to meet local needs and become the cornerstone of larger initiatives.
It becomes the cornerstone of a CULTURAL ECOLOGY system. Thus, the garden becomes the driver of an awareness process concerning nature on a vast scale. Through the inclusion of slow mobility paths, it activates and turns into the main node of SLOW TOURISM processes. Its ecological and functional themes, focused on the olive tree and its processing, open HYBRID/ ECO-MANUFACTURING scenarios, becoming an incubator of green economy processes and creating an eco-sustainable district.
In particular, the three concepts find their expression in public spaces, set within an intermediate urban scale, presenting Mosta as an agile, dynamic, and eco-friendly city that is open to the territory.
To maintain and protect the authenticity of the botanical garden, in its points of contact with the city, the project envisages crystalizing a small percentage of solid spaces, a sequence of elongated squares that can work both in relation to the park and to the surrounding urban area. In this transition, Ecology becomes Anthropic Landscape.
Considering the previous considerations, the general objectives mentioned in conjunction with the local and district objectives are implemented and grafted onto this surface of spaces. Specifically, these spaces can be attributed to the concept of the membrane, that is osmotic spaces between city and landscape, between nature and history.
