2000 / 2003 – T HOUSE
Private house, Pontecurone (AL) – Italy.
Dimension: 430.00 sqm. Including the wall, excluding terraces
The T HOUSE (where "T" stands for Tiziana name of the owner) is in Pontecurone in the province of Alessandria, northern Italy.
The request of the guest was to design a house with large common and opened areas to dialogue with nature, especially she is in love with the Mediterranean architecture, the sea, the colors of Puglia (region in south Italy).
The project is a centric plan building on which the layout of the rooms is strongly interrelated to the development of trails. The central element, that acts as a link, is the cylinder containing the spiral staircase, this works as an element of both vertical and horizontal distribution, and disengaging five zones on five different levels: in the house, in fact, there are no corridors, all environments are connected with this element that is covered by a glass octagonal pyramid. The overhead light falls in the center of the house allowing the plants to grow in the circular planter.
The use of white Trani stone as a coating for the cylinder walls, both external and internal increases the brightness, creating an effect "outside – inside”. Consistent with this idea is also the paving of the base of natural stone, but this time, with a desired color effect, is of black slate. The coverage of the roof was made entirely from copper plates.
The design of the house, despite the complexity, was done completely by hand, paper and pencil, without the aid of 3D modeling systems and has included many details.
