PETER JAY SHARP THEATRE
This performing arts center offers an eclectic variety of music, dance, film and literary events as well as educational family programs. Performances range from international music and classical concerts to modern dance and various film series. Opening in 1938 as a movie theatre, Symphony Space grew to become a center for art house films. Renovations provided much-needed amenities and improved functionality with a variety of state-of-the-art upgrades. Renovations of the existing backstage area included a newly equipped, high-tech performance space. Upgrades to the marquee, signage, balcony lighting, theatrical scaffolding and painting of the interior were also included. The increase in the theatre's capabilities created an even wider variety of performance and educational programming for the public.
