As part of the Master of Architecture, Digital Research Studio at the University of Sydney all groups were given a choice of 3 sites to design a venue for Sydney Festival 2012 as part of a competition, with the winners design to be built. For the Quadrangle at Sydney University, our chosen site, the brief was to provide a venue for a 6 hour marathon performance including an hour interval for 600 people watching a Middle-Eastern production. Our project was based on digital exploration or transition through erosion, using Rhino and the parametric plug-in Grasshopper we generated a model that allowed us to produce a range of intensities on the journey the audience take from reality to intrigue. We also integrated the erosion of this journey with transparency and views back to the Quadrangle through the use of cylinders as the primary building element.
