‘Swords’ bridge holds a special significance in the context of the state of Maharashtra. It is a dedication to the pride of Maharashtra, and the undying legacy of the warrior-king ‘Shivaji’ in Indian history. The bridge symbolizes the great valour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by embodying the essence of one of his legendary swords - the 'Bhawani talwar', as means of paying tribute to the mighty victories of the Maratha empire during Shivaji Maharaj's reign.
