Inspired by the Swiss national flag, Swissbench project, imagined for various swiss cities and regions, combines modern design and information, culture and utility. It's with graphic design and sculpture that Swissbench form has evolved. At first sight, the bench gives the impression to be a sculpture, its use is not easy to define for passer-by. First they have to approach, discover, read, understand and after sit and appreciate the environment. Thereby, this design fits and participates into the space it occupies. The bench can be placed in interior or exterior areas or buildings for example stations, airports, ports, parks, touristic areas, in the centers and street circuits or public establishments. For interior places the material could be fibre glass and for exterior high-slump concrete. Wood, as being the most traditional material for bench could also be an option. In any cases, choice of material must be adapted to the environment. Ultimately, Swissbench project intentions are to make the public environment more specific including art design. Swissbench project can use country's name, city's name and its main cultural places and alternatively historical figures name who help to develop swiss identity. Biographical or historical informations can also be engraved on the bench.
