This project is a shop in a food court operated by Narita Yume Bokujo (Narita Dreams Dairy Farms), a sightseeing ranch that is widely known in Chiba Prefecture. This shop offers sweets for adults such as homemade ice cream made from their fresh milk.
Therefore we designed the service space and the counter serving as a signboard, according to the following 4 elements.
1) Targeting the adults – Luxury
2) Using only natural ingredients – Purity of materials
3) Conveying appeal of the ranch – Changing image over the time like landscape
4) Appealing the products – Image of dairy cattle
We designed the background of the service counter with a scraped texture of stainless steel and glass. On this texture, which express the abstract image of the farm (i.e. grass/cloud), we suspended the mirror surfaced lighting cover curved by a sculptor to float, which express the abstract image of the cows (i.e. skin pattern).
From a distant view, this store emerges as a blank in a miscellaneous food court. From a middle distance, the color of the sky, the color of the accessories, and the activities of the customers change the image of this shop every moment. It captures the environment and the movement of people surrounding, while purely referring to the elements of the sweets in the ranch. These expressions allow the shop to be more than a mere advertisement, but to be integrated with the appeal, the luxury, and the appearance of the ranch and the dairy products.
