The project owner approached our design team to produce a truly unique aesthetic for their newly created self-serve Frozen Yogurt Franchise. The Owner wanted to stand out from the competition and create a space that captured the character of their organization in physical presence. We were asked to provide design options for the layout of the space and worked closely with the Specialized Equipment manufacturers in order to create the most desirable layout for the customer's convenience. The design of Sweet Yummy is based on the most fluid way a customer can interact with the machines and toppings.
The Owner's main concern is to provide the healthiest most delicious yogurt in the area, and they go to great lengths to ensure quality. The design for Sweet Yummy instantly stands out as it is full of vibrant and appetizing colors that cover the walls with unique characters and patterns adding depth to an otherwise flat surface. The circulation through the space is focused on a cyclical motion driven by circular raised ceiling that is elevated from the other interior areas and populated by a cloud light mobile that freely moves with the air in the space.
The graphics and signage in combination with the material selections and forms create a very interesting and exciting sales area for the yogurt shop. The customer follows the curve of the wall to begin the self-serve process and is provided everything they need along the way. After the customer has selected the yogurt the toppings are the next item in line and then the register creating little to no bottlenecking and simple easy to understand process. The project is undergoing LEED certification and we hope to achieve LEED silver. The use of the back painted glass, graphics, and a curved machine wall separated Sweet Yummy from its competitors who use the typical glass mosaic tile for accents and broke the mold of what a self-serve yogurt shop can look like.
