Designed and constructed by CONTEXT, the "Swamp Shack" is located in a 100 year flood plain along Bernard's Creek in Wilmington, North Carolina. The 2300 SF 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath residence and semi-detached office space is elevated above the ground plain on wood pilings to avoid potential flooding and to take advantage of views across an ancient cypress swamp. Elevating the structure minimizes the impact on the existing site conditions, and provides ample space for an on grade sitting room, carport, and garden storage. The stained natural wood siding blends remarkably with the color of pine straw and reed grass at sunset. Broad overhangs protect the structure from sun and rain while providing a since of enclosure for the exterior decks.SUSTAINABLE DESIGN FEATURES INCLUDE: minimal site disturbance, 100% permeable surface area,
