Svobody 4 is a wine & food bar located in the center of Minsk, Belarus where one can enjoy a meal at any time of the day with a glass of wine, or buy a bottle on the go.
The team at Silent Architecture were tasked with creating a casual, friendly and memorable space for the 168m2 bar, where a person would want to come back even several times during the same day.
Freedom was a key idea when working on the design, as it not only names the historical square where the bar is located (Площадь Свободы), but it also describes the concept and materiality of the space, where a raw material palette consisting of naked material finishes (exposed concrete, unpainted metal) conveys sincerity and humbleness, not dressed to pretend, but naked to impress.
The space is divided into three zones, the core being the concrete and metal corner which houses the bar and music, the sunny yellow room featuring artwork from the Belarussian artist Roman Kaminsky, and the more intimate aquamarine room.
The bar features a sculptural custom wine rack, also designed by the architects, and produced out of metal tube profiles, and a cast concrete bar made from wooden shuttering.
