In the past decades, the decoration style of residential properties tends to be convergent and most designers prefer using conservative plans and the requirements of individuals were ignored. In this case, SWS Group was trying to create a personalized space through layout and visual experience.
The concept came from the ‘curve’ idea of Zaha Hadid, as a vital clue spreading through the whole space. The curves make the space more metrical, different from the symmetrical style in regular showrooms.
The "operation" of the curves in the space also bring the effect of reducing complexity to simplicity, forming an interior space with an elegant frame. Such a clean, orderly and concise state also means that the precise calculation of all the detail of design, including the interior soft decoration design, which needs to be customized. For example, the mini bar is designed to be embedded according to the conditions of the space, which is constantly responding to the changes of the curve in details.
In this project, the design team made a few vital changes to the space. For example, for the ceiling from the porch place to the sitting room, the designers did special open mold design respectively in order to raise the floor height as much as possible. The background wall of sitting room breaks through the traditional flat ones and stretches the space of the sitting room using the long curve. The outspread line of staircase and background wall are connected ingeniously, forming the circular arc board. In the entertainment area, the theme of music strengthens the concept of rhythm, and the layout of the space rises and falls in rhythm.
The apartment is designed assuming that the resident here is a family of three, who pays attention to art and fashion and has own idea about furniture aesthetic. As a result, the designers selected furniture from different set and put them together (for example, the sofa and coffee table in the sitting room with different style make the space full of personalized taste of the residents.
When entering the second floor, the semi-opened cloakroom catches people’s eyes. The glass window makes the cloakroom transparent. The untraditional semicircle type cloakroom reflects the taste and temperament of the hostess, adding more flavor to this storage function room.
The designer specially designed the space and dispersed the daylight throughout the space from all directions without much restrictions. The integral second floor is transparent and full of light and energy.
For the bedroom, the designer used intelligent fireplace system instead of traditional TV cabinet, giving the bedroom space chic feeling. The background wall of the bed was designed to be asymmetric in concert with the changing line in the space.
The bedroom, study, cloakroom and bathroom are arranged rationally and play their roles collaboratively. The shape of hand washing sink and bathtub were customized strictly to fit the surrounding component.
Instead of traditional desk and bookcase, the study leaves a relatively blank multi-functional space for the habitant adjusting the usage randomly according to their lifestyle.
The humanized space design will provoke people to think about and savor the detail. In fact, for SWS Group, this way of thinking matters more than the design itself.
