A small 900 square foot urban cottage with teeny tiny rooms has just been permitted for a 723 foot rear addition. Tucked behind the restored front façade, few people will ever notice the extension (except for our very excited clients). Two new floors will allow open plan living/dining/kitchen/entry spaces above three bedrooms and two baths below. The upper public spaces are oriented towards southwest views of “downtown” Glen Park. In this often foggy part of town, sun exposure is welcome, but controlled with deep eaves, a large trellis, and carefully positioned skylights. The lower floor is more private, and allows access to the downslope rear yard with large deck and gardens.
Sometimes appearances can be deceiving (in a good way). While still a humble cottage at the front, once inside and in the back, we hope our clients will feel they have more gracious elbow room and newfound comfort in their new old home.
