Miami is a city in MOTION.
The city encompasses many means of transportation, including
automobiles, buses, airplanes, seaplanes, trains, Boats, and metrorails. Located in the district of Wynwood, the site
experiences high intensity but low frequency circulation patterns, since it is
an art district. Moreover, the Sundance
Film Institute Mediatheque draws from the influential paths of circulation
surrounding the site, particularly NW 2nd Avenue and NW 27th Street. Circulation does not stop when one steps foot
into the Mediatheque. The visitor is
drawn throughout the building by the theater, which figure eights through the
space. The theater is non-traditional;
there is no fixed seating. the Theater moves people by a series of film clips,
thus finishing the theater loop creates the entire film. The spaces are manipulated in an effort to
give different experiences at certain parts of the film. While people in Miami are always in motion,
their movement is continued throughout the Sundance Film Institute Mediatheque.
