Anchoring the modernization of Manhattan, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is NYC's newest and most immersive observatory and art experience. Spanning the 91st through 93rd floors of One Vanderbilt, SUMMIT is a masterful blend of art, technology, architecture, and thrills. The 65,000 square-foot space boasts 30,375 square feet of mirrors, hundreds of floating reflective orbs, transparent floors, a wrap-around outdoor terrace and a Nordic-themed cafe designed by Snøhetta.
Within SUMMIT is AIR, the story-driven experience designed by Kenzo Digital. AIR begins in TRANSCENDENCE with 1,215 annealed glass mirrors from Lithuania that create the illusion of boundless space. The second floor of TRANSCENDENCE features a mezzanine where visitors revel in the power of new perspective, witnessing the ecstatic first moments of visitors entering the space below. In AFFINITY, hundreds of floating reflective orbs allow for playful interaction while in UNITY, guests become part of the experience as their portraits are transformed into a cloud within an animated skyscape.
AIR completely transforms at night with a one-of-a-kind sound and light show that turns SUMMIT into a beacon of color that is even visible to those looking at One Vanderbilt from the outside.
Mixed in with art are multiple thrills including LEVITATION, where guests can step out from the building’s envelope onto transparent sky boxes 1,100 feet above Madison Avenue.
One Vanderbilt has paved the way for all new smart and sustainable construction projects in NYC by reducing energy consumption by about 26%. When constructing the building, a 75% recycling rate was used. One Vanderbilt also utilizes a 150,000 gallon rainwater collection treatment system, reducing the demand of cooling tower water by about 1 million gallons.
