This 40,000 square foot facility contains an 18,000 square foot 300 seat Performing Arts Theater. Working with theater consultant, John Von Szelinski and acoustical consultants, Smith, Fause and Associates the specialized structure contains a full proscenium stage, dressing rooms, a scene shop, and full lighting and rigging capabilities to accommodate Broadway style productions.
The entire facility’s facade reflects the geology and texture of the surrounding desert mountains. The adult library is designed to house 80,000 volumes and the children’s library holds 50,000 volumes. The library also contains an art gallery, two aquariums, and stock exchange reader board. Outside two activity plazas serve as entrances to the center and host a number of festivals and fairs throughout the year.
Design of this facility served as the foundation for architectural expressions and color for town center development throughout Summerlin.
