This studio of photography is in a street where pedestrian traffic is denser compared to vehicle traffic. In the program, there are places for quest welcoming, photo shooting and there are offices. We can say that the construct of place in photography studios are generally constructed as ‘the front’ and ‘the back’. While ‘the front’ is where the customers welcomed and interviewed, ‘the back’ functions as the photo shooting area. Also, the face of ‘the front’ which faces the outside has been thought as an option for big-fonts-photography-exhibition. Therefore; the connection between the ‘out‘side and the ‘in‘side is partially or mostly cut.
It is possible to talk about two circumstances that affect the place and also its furniture design. The first one is the circumstance when the guest welcoming place, which normally has no other function, meets another function – the photo shooting area. Related to this, the second circumstance is making the different light impressions appear using artificial light in a place where also visualizing with artificial light is done. Apart from that, from the point of view of the ‘in’ ‘out’ relationship mentioned above, a splitter (for instance a big-font-photo) between ‘in’ and ‘out’ has not been placed; the side has been projected as an interface by which ‘in’ and ‘out’ can interact. So, keeping transparent, exhibiting the life in this street-front place and side including the photo shooting process has been thought. The black frame around the transparent on the side refers to the ‘belvedere’ situation in which the passersby can partially witness the photo production process.
