The project is the third prize winner in the competition for the redesign of the stage set of Studio 5 of the Bulgarian National Television. The space of the studio is divided into two separate areas – one for the news, sports and weather desks, and the other - for the morning talk shows “The Day Starts” and “The Day Starts With Culture”, with the option to transform it into a set for other programmes too. The background of the the talk shows set is constructed out of books with variable heights and white horizontal metal shelves stacked into rows with equal height. The positions of the curved book walls and the furniture are marked on the existing grey floor with colored lines. The news desk uses as a background an easily foldable wooden screen wall, which is gradually painted white, thus blending seamlessly into the white surroundings of the studio. The project envisages the use of salvaged, refurbished or used furniture, furnishings and materials, as well as rapidly renewable materials. When using new wood-based products and materials we recommend the use of certified wood in accordance with the Forest Stewardship Council’s principles and criteria. All the sealants, adhesives, paintings and coatings are to be with limited Volatile Organic Component (VOC), while the composite wood and agrifiber products used must contain no added urea-formaldehyde resins.
