STRIKE: AN INVOLVONG PROJECT
This is the story of an italian fifties apartment refurbishment, located in Verona. The housing uniti is located just a few steps from the Arena.
The project renovation has been radical, if you consider the planimetry; but still you can breathe the atmosphere of the age, if you look at some details that link the intervention to the roots.
Indeed, part of the forniture, as the sofa, the bedside tables, the internal doors and some other things belong to the fifties and the sixties.
The project has been nominated as “strike”, as for the two designers this operation has meant to be a demolition in order to rebuid and give new life to the objects.
PadiglioneB (this is the name of the studio, made of two young italian architects, Chiara Tenca and Alberto Bassi) has tested a very limited surface (60 sq.m.), in which the necessity was to obtain ad additional sleeping room. The ancient disposition was extremely illogical, so the intention was to give more care to the urban life.
The keystone was the shift of the entrance door (formerly located where the bathroom currently takes place). Where the ancient kitchen storage room was, now is the second little bathroom, just in front of the bedroom. Given the need to the passage of several drainpipes (because of the shift bathrooms), the pavement was lifted up for 10 cm and completely made in cement agglomeration, which covers the entire apartment surace and gives a strong materical impact.
On the contrary, other elements like the kitchen block gently issues from the concrete pavement.
As the problem of the reduced room, the partition which divides the small bedroom and the corridor is made by a wooden wardrobe
Than, the will was to give the walls a white gypsum finish, just to receive the artworks of young local artists (really, the future will is to dedicate all the apartment walls to display the artworks of young artists, as a little domestic art gallery). Indeed, the operation has involved some pivate artworks and furniture pieces which have found the right collocation.
The full intervention has cost an amount of average 50000 € and has token about 3 months of construction work.
The result is a bright and full of personality space. All the rooms are joined by the same trims, which give a unique logical wire to the construction.
Padiglione B is a young architect study, made of two designers, Chiara Tenca (33 years) and Alberto Bassi (35 years); we have been working for eight years and we are now upgrading our branding; we prefer working in refurbishment and in interiors, but we like as much experimenting in new fields, as we are in constant evolution.
We hope you like our project and would be grateful to see it on your website; otherwise, we’ll try to submit to you other future projects.
Enjoy!
