Puchkinsky Cinema - Change the face
My task for this design for this competition is not
just change the face of Puchkinsky Cinema, but also provide a new city
landscape to Pushkin Square, a new intersection between public space, culture
programs and creating vibrant landmark within the urban landscape.
The basic theme of this design is “A strange rock
sitting on a hill”. The cinema new façade is shaping like a “gigantic rock” and
the green grass ramp rise from the park and continue extend to the platform of
the cinema. The “gigantic rock” provides shelter to the platform and also
working as a highly visible object to surrounding cityscape and attracts people
to walk closer and explore the cinema.
The ramp covered by grass formed a major link to
cinema from Pushkin Square, it can become a flexible opens pace for public use
for outdoor events. During the Moscow International Film Festivals, it also can
become the guess “green carpet”.
