Our challenge was to open jewel maven Stephen Webster’s US flagship in five weeks doing only night construction. We converted an existing 3500 sf of Rodeo Drive jewelry store and office into a first floor jewelry shop and second floor private lounge. The second floor features a curated art space and bar and can host collection showings and dinner for twenty.
In terms of design, we wanted to examine how we were approaching form, and to map the way in which the Stephen Webster team was approaching it in terms of naturalistic replication. They are noted for reproducing sea creatures, splines, daggered hearts and other more or less organic phenomena.
Our Eden is replete with thorny towering thicket in acid washed steel and molded serpentine stair. We engraved the floor with skulls. We designed a tufted black patent leather sofa and gem infinity table for the sales area. A black glass stair creates an infinity view of neon skulls announcing the “No Regrets” lounge. The formal dining table is steel and expands to 24’. A great white shark jaw and skeletal fish in Swarovski crystal pave are lit up by dining table uplights. The bar is an auto painted alum crystalline form. Large domed windows are RGB lit in purple for now and feature the property to Beverly Hills and to the Regent Beverly Wilshire.
