Alvin Reinhard Fritz Architect Inc. was hired as the prime consultant for this control room office structure by EGreen Corporation. EGreen specializes in modular building processes utilizing Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) to provide energy efficiency and waste reduction in this type of construction.EGreen was contracted to construct a modular built complex for Statoil using their SIP technology to ensure an energy efficient building. Although a somewhat basic structure and aesthetics, the modular aspect of this project added to the complexity as we had to ensure the interface of all modules could be constructed off site and assembled together on site. Some of the complexities of this project involved tying the mechanical, electrical and building envelope components of each unit together so they could perform as one complete complex when assembled. The control room complex consisted of approximately 9400 Sq. Ft. of space which was constructed in 13 separate compartments in a factory setting in Calgary and then shipped and assembled at the Statoil site near Leismer, AB (approximately 2hrs. South of Fort McMurray). The control room has 13 offices, a board room, kitchen, lunch room, washrooms and locker rooms along with a large control room which monitors operations for the facility. This complex acts as an integral part of this horizontal oil well project which when fully operational will produce 10,000 barrels per day.
