Mahmoud Abad is an industrial town in the north of Isfahan that is the heart of stone factories in the middle east. The project proposal is related to developing an old factory and creating a new building in front of it for office spaces. Our client's request was to design a store, a private office for the CEO with a terrace and office space for the sales department. The lack of architectural separation for different work activities in Iranian factories is the principal reason for the low quality of working spaces for such functions. The program was to separate main functional spaces with slabs on different levels and create custom architectural quality for each space.
As an industrial town, Mahmoud Abad didn't have a reasonable facade system, and every facade in this area look the same. We designed a double facade system to save more energy and privacy for Office spaces, and also we used brick and concrete blocks to have the same look as other facades. This solution enabled us to add an office building to the existing building in addition to the client's wishes. The integration of the facade of the new building with the existing building by choosing brick colors compatible with the existing building and the surrounding environment made the project more uniform and placed a readable building in the urban context. On the other hand, the double facade system and the modern brick introduce the building as an essential stone shopping center. The brick facade does not need additional lighting and gives the building a different look after sunset with the use of internal lights.
