The « Star » building complex is the western tip of the new “Etoile” neighbourhood in Strasbourg. It is located at the meeting point between the urban scale of the city centre and the suburban scale of Neudorf and reflects this meeting in its volume.
It is shaped as a cornerstone, a mineral bloc covered with a dark brick layer. To enhance its massiveness of the building, its windows and balconies are designed as precious metallic inserts. The ground and attic floors contrast with the rest of the construction. The commercial spaces of the ground floor are entirely glazed and seem to cut the volume of its surroundings. The upper levels are recessed and covered with a bronze metallic pattern, allowing the volume to fade into the sky.
