The Escondido Village Graduate Student Housing project includes four highrise dormitory buildings, an underground garage topped with sports fields, and a spacious pavilion that houses a brewery, commercial kitchen, and dining space for faculty and students. To meet the fast-track construction schedule while maintaining the mission-style architectural aesthetic of Stanford's campus, the buildings are constructed of structural precast concrete floor and wall panels that serve as both the building envelope and the structural system. The precast panels were fabricated in a manufacturing facility where windows and MEP systems were pre-installed, and then erected on-site in a fraction of the time of conventional construction techniques. The four dormitory buildings total approximately 1,880,000 SF and provide approximately 2,400 beds for graduate & undergraduate students.
