Fairs such as ‘CeBIT’ or ‘IAA’ announce a decrease in the amount of
visitors in 2009. The EXPO REAL too reports a decrease of 15%. The
reason for this is the – intersectoral – effect of the global
depression. Former issues and terms of interest in the field of
‘growth’ are no longer up to date. Sustainability, on the other hand,
generates a totally new and economic attractive economic sector
nowadays, which has the potential to lead the economy out of depression.
We have also approached the available budget of 75.000€ for the stall
of the ‘Bavarian Chamber of Architects’ (ByAK) from a sustainable point
of view. This means an ecologic use of not only material but also
financial resources. Therefore the proposal will use only 50% of the
budget for the stall itself. The money saved will be used to invite
speakers who will give lectures about sustainable building projects.
Moreover, we propose to divide the stall itself in an upper and lower
section: in the lower part, the BAK/ByAK will introduce themselves. On
the upper part, the visitors can listen to lectures about
sustainability held by international experts. The entire stall
is built with simple low-tech materials like a timber construction to
achieve the desired saving. According to the overall concept the
surface is ‘raw’ on the upper part while a white coating refines the
lower part.
