The stairwell gallery is a temporary exhibition space where art is displayed in an unconventional way. In the heart of Sydney's bar and nightclub district, the gallery occupies 7 flights of stairs over 4 levels with a focus on materiality, craft and a bold palette of materials. The stairwell cladding will be 'treated' over the life of the exhibition, it will be carved, etched, burnt, branded and engraved, where the timber walls will become artworks in themselves.
