Stairway To Heaven -Rem KHasiev/Daria Burekhina//MAC
The new face and the upgraded programmatic content of the film theatre is provided through the following elements:
1/ “The Red Carpet” – a 72-step stairway leading to the 2nd level and enabling the festival procession. The stairway becomes the centerpiece of the approach towards the building, and ensures access to the main lobby.
2/ The new terrace in front of the main facade (2.000 m2) hosts outdoor events and helps organize the circulation of public during festivals and film premieres.
3/ Multimedia screens (total surface area: approx. 1.400 m2) wrap three of the building’s facades serving as a decorative enclosure and making it possible to broadcast film trailers, advertisement and artistic video installations. It is a contemporary, visually active media facade that enriches the existing building with new dynamics.
4/ The HEAVEN café (1.500 m2): arranged on the building’s roof, it accommodates 380 guests, with a summer terrace capable of hosting additional 120 persons. Unique both for its placements and for the magnificent views opening from this point, the café is covered with stepped glass dome. The dome consists of a structural frame with DuPont SentryGlas® Expressions glazing and has a total surface of about 2.500 m2.
5/ Lobby/atrium (3.300 m2) – the main, four-level space with elevators that connect the levels and the roof. The new atrium has a large capacity and offers a zoning optimized for festivals and other similar events
