Our client wanted to build a slick, modern stainless steel staircase in their brownstone apartment. We decided to add wood and make use of very clean, traditional lines, giving them the modern design they were looking for.
Whenever possible, we try to take an approach that makes the new project match the existing design of the space and cohesive to the rest of the home.
This bold, quarter-turn staircase extends down from the landing with zig-zag, custom-cut stainless steel stringers, accompanying risers and backings that support the black walnut treads. We also used stainless, flat bar balusters with a brushed finish.
At Serett, we call this finish a "dull nickle". We used a special technique to dull the sheen of the stainless steel to a nickel looking finish. The wood used is raw, unstained black walnut, showing the natural color of the wood.
