Renovation and design of a new entry addition to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, a mid-century iconic church, designed by Steinhart/Theriault in 1962. Careful choices about stripping away the years of accumulated renovations that had marred the powerful space were required, as well as creating a new art glass wall to replace the cheap, 1960’s plastic film coated-single pane existing glass. A new transparent entry out to very urban, gritty commercial street created a new space for gatherings around a new artist-designed baptismal font. The project was completed for a modest budget of $85/sf.
