Located at 654 Mission Street in the downtown, the Urban Center for SPUR (San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association) is intended to bring a public interest in their cause. SPUR has been important to San Francisco for over forty years and its mission to give the community a voice in developing informed and innovative solutions to urban problems in order to improve quality of urban life and bring together necessary elements to enhance livability in San Francisco. SPUR gives a voice to the community and this facility gives SPUR an identity. Intended to promote interest in the community and passerby’s as to what SPUR is and what is their intent. A translucent facade allows the interior life of the building to emanate out to the street; this voyeurism is an advertisement to create interest to get involved.
