In context these unusually new, clean and colorful forms - lofty and detached - loom as symbols of a new internationalized condition in Haiti. If the common goal is truly the enabling of Haitians, it is important that the role of foreign agents in Haiti be in no way convert . Everyone is an artist. More cultural content is being produced than can be absorbed by the collective memory of mankind. As this future world approaches extreme saturation, content is being purged indiscriminately. "Official" histories, unofficial histories, revised histories, solipsistic manifestos, retroactive manifestos, historic futures and projected futures all fall away. This jettisoning is an act of liberation. Now only fragments remain. Utopian dreams and dystopian nightmares were replaced with the anticlimactic present moment. Historians and critics were replaced with observers and aggregators long ago and now they too will be replaced with rememberers. Symbolic hierarchies still survive as nostalgic references in competing narratives and absurd ideological battles. Misunderstood phantom desires for authority and control manifest themselves in the escapist theaters where monkey fights take place daily.
