Design
Brief Description
The concept of our proposal is to create a
"play of life" on the new face of Pushkinsky Cinema. It is a real
life experience of people's movement, designed in such a silhouette effect on
the existing curtain wall using new external staircase going up and down as people’s
daily activity.
Literally, it is a process of recharging new
energy to its architecture. But, we personally feel that we should preserve its
heritage image to the city, that used to be a high profile place for the famous
people in that era.
Having that thought as our key idea, we make a composition between people, new staircase
and new coloured-glass panels as screen layers. Hence, in our visual fields, it
will portray some multi-layer of coloured-screens. With that, the “splendour screen”
is supplemented by our minds in its elevation.
Architecture should have a character. Hence, we make it a dramatic effect
by changing the natural light that passes through these screensin
some way to achieve natural and exciting looking multi-layered coloured screens
as the new façade of Pushkinsky Cinema.
However, to achieve the active scene of the people’s
movement on the façade, we proposed to relocate the existing restaurants on the
ground level to the roof top of Pushkinsky Cinema. The new roof top will be
part of the proposed extensions with new dining and garden area, which open to
sky. As for the new ground level space, we proposed to have a public exhibition
hall or a gallery. This in turn will boost up the rentable space value.
In short, the multi-layered coloured screens are just a visual objects
with no mind of their own. You might consider, yourself – as the cinema viewer,
watching different compositional and manipulation scenes of the play of life in silhouette
motions.
