Sparkle. Glitter. Pop! is an attempt to collectively make the dispersed, and often times invisible black LGBT community visible to the wider public through a mobile, deconstructed sign. During the “Hotter Than July” Black Gay Pride Palmer Park Picnic, we collectively assembled and painted the various parts of the mobile signage, and joined together for the inaugural “gay slow roll” ride around the park.
After Hotter Than July, LGBT Detroit will use the mobile sign to publicly promote its mission of advocacy for the black lgbt community across the city and beyond. They brought their sparkle, they brought their glitter, and they made it POP!
