This project focuses on spatial utilisation in the Røros area in Central Norway. The core focus is if and how Southern Sami spatial understanding differs from that of "mainstream" society. Main research questions are amongst others: are conflicts between urbanisation and infrastructural expansion on one hand, and the need for unspoilt areas for reindeer grazing on the other unsolvable due to diverging spatial readings? Are we governed by differing sets of values when we define our surroundings - so much that we have different opinions on how to utilise land?
