The house is reconnected to the garden: outside is brought inside as new glazing innovations allow large areas of glass to be as highly efficient thermally as solid walls. Natural light is brought deep into the heart of the space via slim windows and a light at the junction with the original house. The new space is loose flowing and open plan, gifting the multi generational family with flexible, non prescriptive space.
Views from the front door are orchestrated to reveal the garden and the timber understair enclosure is glazing to make the hall feel bigger and lighter, as well as to deliver natural light to the basement. This highly crafted and technically precise project was delivered on time and on budget.
