The Southport NC residence is located on the intra-coastal waterway near a Victorian town complete with fishing fleet and an abundance of historic Victorian homes. The design goal was to build a new home reminiscent of the houses from the owners' childhoods in nearby coastal areas. The design idea was "coastal farmhouse" and featured family antiques, period light fixtures and hardware. The home was constructed on pilings and designed to withstand hurricanes with modern structural systems, but once inside it is from another time, and authentic to the period.
