With three children and a dog, a winemaker’s family rapidly outgrew their 1700 square foot home. To accommodate the family’s budget and lifestyle, a two story, regionally contextual modern house was constructed on the existing footprint. Three discrete volumes comprise the massing of public and private spaces, punctuated by a central circulation spine which provides clerestory east and west light to all three areas. Save for a wine cellar, the first floor is a completely open plan. There are four bedrooms with a study in the master bedroom suite on the second floor.
